On November 29th 2019, I received my sketchbook in the mail (as well as my t-shirt i ordered too). After a couple days of brainstorming, i finally decided on a theme.  Before I would work directly into the sketchbook, i did some quick pencil sketches in another sketchbook I owned. Once the sketches were done, i use my light box to trace onto separate sheets of paper.

Online friends and IRL friends were my muse, so I did some sketches based off photographs of them. As I did my sketches, i was trying to decide, what medium did I want to work with. Acrylic paint? Water colors? Ink? Sharpie? Which medium represented me the most as an artist, after much though later, I decided to do a mixed media approach, and for being an artist that works with many mediums, it felt like the best choice. Next, I would prep and personalize each page before pasting the finished portraits into my sketchbook.

After much procrastination and working around my job schedule, I finally finished (on January 26th 2020) painting the last page of my sketchbook, AND before the deadline too! The last page ended up being my most favorite since i was inspired by the works of Frida Kahlo to paint it.

On February 3rd 2020, i received an email from the Brooklyn Art Library saying my sketchbook (which i titled; Book of Humans) has been received and cataloged into the library. And it can be found on the shelves with the call number 380.15-3

Now since mailing off my sketchbook for the project, I have the personal goal to travel to Brooklyn, NY to... # 1. see the library in person and # 2 reunite once again with my sketchbook. :)
